**disclaimer**: This story was reposted from yesterday due to lack of submissions
I’m starting a YouTube channel where I do tutorials on LEGO cars. So far I have headlights, police flashing lights, opening doors, etc. Now I ask, what have you done to your lego cars?
P.S: If your idea is used in a video, a link to your username and kinja will be added as credit where credit is due.

a lot of my lego cars didnt fare so well once young me figured out how to build them with space for firecrackers..
20 years later... my moms backyard is probably still a risky venture when barefoot

I turned a technic truck from V8 to l6 config... but because the firing order is different in the v8 I had to change the cranks shape and it didn’t work out
I also made a 1:4:16 gear box

That was the fate of most of the plastic airplane models I built. Stash some firecrackers in the wings, set it on fire, wait for the inevitable explosion. Oh, and film in in 8mm slow motion. Yes, 8mm. That was a long time ago.

That was a barebones set, but it provided a lot of entertainment.

my biggest “innovation” came when I was a kid in the 80s still actively playing with lego pretty much daily. my revelation was that I should stop trying to make sporty looking cars, the more boxy military vehicles were prime for lego construction.

I did a very similar thing but used non-reporting bottle rockets. They did not propel my cars very far.
I also used to take play doh and put it around fire crackers. Hold them in my hand until they were about to explode, toss them up and it would rain play doh. Had one explode in my hand one time. Felt weird as hell. I can’t believe how young my parents let me mess with fireworks.

Steering and suspespension (independent front, solid rear) on a City-style build. Also a model of my own car.
Teach me how to bro-doze.

I’ve been doing some Technic stuff for a while now. Mostly with crawlers like this one with twin driveshafts, portal axles, and 4 link with pushrod suspension.
I’ve also tried putting actual RC stuff in sets like the GT3RS but that didn’t go so great.

Firecrackers were never part of our dramas. We could not crash a burning plane in slow motion if we were afraid of it exploding in our hands.
By the way, the warning label on model glue is correct . That stuff is a fire hazard, especially when applied liberally to the engine nacelles of a crashing model plane.

My son and I have a giant table in the basement covered in Legos...but all I care to build is modern or brutalist architecture involving cleverly hidden hinged doors/floors/walls, not cars.

Do you occasionally argue with your son? Because then you’d just be Will Ferrell in the lego movie

Ha you got me, I almost put “I SWEAR I’M NOT LORD BUSINESS” in the original comment.
